The practice offers a wide variety of services and clinics. To make an appointment for any of the following clinics please contact our reception.
Monthy on Tuesday at 2pm. The midwife provides routine antenatal care. If you are not able to attend the clinic, one of the doctors will be happy to monitor your care during normal surgery hours.
Asthma and Chronic Pulmonary Disease
The practice nurses regularly review all patients with these conditions to monitor their treatment.
First Thursday or every month, 11:45am - 12:45pm. The doctors and health visitors monitor pre-school child development. Children are called when their assessment is due.
The practice operates a recall system for cervical smears. This is usually done by the practice nurses during surgery hours.
Contraceptive advice is offered during normal surgery hours by the doctors and practice nurses.
All patients with diabetes are seen regularly by the practice nurses. They monitor the condition, in conjunction with the doctors and advise on diet and blood sugar control to help prevent long term complications.
Patients with heart disease are reviewed by the practice nurses and doctors.
Thursday 11:00am - 12noon. The doctor and practice nurse run a minor surgery clinic following a consultation in normal surgery hours.
Other chronic disease
Patients with long-term illnesses are monitored by the practice nurses and doctors during normal surgery hours. They are recalled by telephone or letter.
The physiotherapist runs clinics on Mondays at the Thorverto surgery. Patients are seen following a doctor’s referral.
The clinic is run by the practice nurse. Patients enroll on a 6 week course to help them stop smoking following referral by a doctor or nurse. Patients are required to complete a questionaire about their smoking habits and hand it into reception. The practice nurse will then contact the patient to arrange the appointment.
Weight Control clinic
The clinic is run by the practice nurse. Patients enroll on an 8 week course to help them control their weight. The practice nurse will monitor their progress every week. Patients are encouraged to participate in the group session for support.
